mwdqWahnfried è il nome che mwdgRichard Wagner diede alla sua villa a mwdwBayreuth.cite-ref-1[1]

Il nome è composto dalle parole tedesche mwfqWahn (illusione, follia) e mwfgFried, (pace, tranquillità) e deriva dalla frase di Richard Wagner che compare sulla facciata della casa: mwfw"Hier wo mein Wähnen Frieden fand – Wahnfried – sei dieses Haus von mir benannt." ("Qui, dove le mie illusioni trovano pace - mwgaWahnfried - così chiamo la mia casa.")

Finanziato da re mwggLudovico II di Baviera la casa venne costruita tra il mwgw1872 ed il mwha1874 sotto la supervisione di Carl Wölfel che seguì i progetti dell'architetto berlinese mwhgWilhelm Neumann, modificati secondo le indicazioni ed i desideri dello stesso Wagner.

Il giardino ospita le sepolture di Wagner (inumato nel 1883) e della moglie mwiaCosima (nel 1930).
